Archimedes was a great Greek scientist of Antiquity, both physicist, mathematician and engineer. Born in 287 AD. J. -C. and died in 212 AD. J. -C. in Syracuse, his hometown, he lived in Sicily (currently Italian island). We don't know much about his life except that he was the son of an astronomer named Phidias. His father was probably his first science teacher. Archimedes was assassinated by a soldier during the capture of Syracuse by Roman armies commanded by the ancient Rome Consul Marcellus.
